J. Staff Architect, established in 1989 in Venice, California, is a full service Architectural firm located in West Los Angeles, California.

The firm specializes in creating highly designed and crafted sustainable buildings and interiors along the Southern California coast. Long experience with the coastal environment results in structures that patina and become more beautiful with the passage of time.  J. Staff Architect takes pride in working to shape the desires of the client to resolve their programmatic and aesthetic goals in exciting and innovative ways.  J. Staff Architect is also very experienced at designing high-rise residential condominium interiors, and have completed complicated projects within new and existing high rise buildings.  Sustainable (Green) concerns consistently found in the work are a focus on natural lighting, on-site power generation using solar photovoltaic panels, and an interest in the use of natural (renewable) materials chosen for their durability and appropriateness to their task.  Projects are consistently detailed with fine cabinetry designed in-house, and are planned from first inception around their final furnishings, which can be custom designed.  Lighting design for all the projects is also done in-house to ensure the most consistent design statement. Although residential buildings and interiors have been a recent focus, the firm also has experience designing multi-family housing, commercial and industrial buildings, and tenant improvements.

C. John Staff III, A.I.A., principal architect and owner of the firm, is a registered architect in the state of California.  A native of Los Angeles, John earned a Masters Degree in Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC).  His undergraduate work resulted in a Bachelors Degree in Art, with a furniture design emphasis, from San Diego State University.
